Did you know that rural women are the vulnerable group most affected by climate change consequences?

According to United Nations Climate Change (UNFCCC) “Women commonly face higher risks and greater burdens from the impacts of climate change in situations of poverty.(read the article)

Yet, women play a critical role in response to climate change adaptation due to their local knowledge of and leadership in e.g. sustainable resource management and/or leading sustainable practices at the household and community level.

I create this short Documentary  to invite you into the live of Anita Santana and get inspire by the the strength of rural women and the process of adaptation to climate change effects in their daily life.  

Vision Statement  

Lack of Water Mom is a short documentary about a strong householder, Anita. A mom that is creating ways to adapt to drought and maintain her garden to feed her family. In a community with an increasing desertification process and low water access, she undertakes different measures learned by her mother to adapt to a changing climate and empower other women to be part of the new way of living in rural Manabí.

Awards and Competitions 

Lack of Water Mom participated on the Global Youth Video Competition on May 2019, under the category of Nature-based solutions for food and human health. This short documentary was selected on the 50 finalist group. 

The Video Competition was organized by United Nations Climate Change (UNFCCC), Convention on Biological Diversity (UNCBD), and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), in partnership with the Global Environment Facility-United Nations Development Programme Small Grants Programme (UNDP/GEF SGP), Television for Environment(tve) and BNP Paribas Foundation.
