As an adventurist born in a wildlife paradise Ecuador and living and creating in Germany, I believe in the emotional power of media to connected us in different levels.

The last couple of years of finishing my MA Digital Narratives, the limitless possibilities of storytelling and technology inspired me to create around emotional connection with nature. XR and interactive media open a new layer of possibilities of tackling climate change topic different that I was creating before coming to Germany.

Filmmaking in nature and with communities of my home country

allowed me to see first-hand the interdependency between nature and socioeconomic pressures

. After study Environmental Communication and Documentary Film, I worked in related project in my corporate and personal projects.  I am excited to take media into the next level and hopefully inspired individual impact.

Spaces ifs

2020 -2022​ Cologne – Germany

  • Coordinated content creation team for the digital social/learning platform of the university community. We increased user-generated content by 60% in the second semester, implementing student club landing pages, like bottom on comments, a digital calendar of events, and a regularly updated homepage, etc.
  • Empowered the UX design, aesthetics, and performability of the WordPress-based digital portal. Together with the team, we needed to adapt fast to the Covid digital transition and constantly develop Spaces to be the main form of communication for the ifs community. Improving the user journey based on their daily needs was key to implementation.

 

AQAS e.V. – Agentur für Qualitätssicherung durch Akkreditierung von Studiengängen

Fujairah – UAE; Cologne – Germany; (March / April – 2022)

  • As a team member of the panel of experts for the “international accreditation of higher education institutions and programs” AQAS, I evaluated the Multimedia Studies BA of the University of Fujairah, according to the agency criteria.
  • Facilitated feedback sessions between the members of the panel and the authorities, professors, staff, and students of the University resulting in valuable qualitative information for the accreditation analysis. 
  • Supported the accreditation process and contributed to the final report document by identifying opportunities for improvement for the University to fulfill the set of standards of AQAS.

 

More about AQAS and my work in Fujairah:

AQAS is an independent organisation accredited by the German Accreditation Council (GAC) since 2001. It is therefore a notified body for the accreditation of higher education institutions and programmes in Germany. AQAS is also a full member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) and listed in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) which confirms that our procedures comply with a common set of principles for quality assurance in Europe.

While the criteria and procedure for accreditation in Germany are defined by GAC, the agency uses the “Stand- ards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area” (ESG), on which all Bolo- gna countries agreed, as a basis for accreditation procedures abroad. The ESG are a set of standards and guidelines for internal as well as for external quality assurance in higher education. The core idea of a pro- gramme-accreditation by AQAS is to assess if the programme is run in accordance with the ESG (in their current form) while ensuring the curriculum meets current academic standards. Since the demands of the ESG are formulated in general terms, AQAS developed its own criteria and indicators on the basis of the ESG which allow the panel of experts to focus on relevant indicators of the teaching and learning processes. AQAS follows the main idea that the prime responsibility for the teaching and learning process, hence also the quality of a programme, lies with the university. Consequently, the criteria have to be put in the respective context of the programme, also allowing to consider individual targets set by the institution in the Self-Evaluation Report (SER). In the accreditation procedure, the experts assess whether the programme is able to achieve the de- fined targets and criteria.

If the panel of experts positively evaluates the programme, the positive decision of the AQAS Standing Com- mission of AQAS confirms that the programme meets the requirements defined by the AQAS criteria in line with the ESG.

United Nations Development Programme – Ecuador

Quito – Ecuador (Nov / Dec – 2019)

  • Strengthened the COP23 media campaign of UNDP by producing audiovisual pieces to be shared on the ONG social media channels during the United Nations Climate Change Conference Chile -Spain.
  • Developed a set of data visualization content with the news of the COP23 meetings. Generated four video reels and seven infographics, material that supported a 45% increase in social media interactions during the first week of the convention.

 

GIZ- Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit EC

Quito – Ecuador (Okt / Dec – 2019)

  • Conceptualized and produced videos of the annual results of the DeveloPPP.de Projects. This section of GIZ works together with more than 50 small and medium sustainable projects around the country. The audiovisual material included not only testimonies and side shoots, but also data visualization graphics for sharing the outstanding data.

COBANA Gmbh. Co

Quito – Ecuador (Jun / Sep – 2019)

  • Directed and produced videos about the project “Sustainable Bananas” that support the Digital Marketing strategy “Follow me to the field” of COBANA and their projects in Ecuador and Costa Rica.
  • Created the complete audiovisual content for the website, photography, photo editing, infographics, videos, and interviews. The storytelling strategy shows how sustainable agriculture practices are having a positive impact.

 

IUCN – International Union for Conservation of Nature

Quito – Ecuador (March / May – 2019)

  • Developed 15 videos that supported the online course called “Nature-based solutions for sustainable and resilient development” which organised IUCN for 300 Latin American participants.
  • Facilitated the live Q&A sessions and coordinated the schedule with more than 30 speakers around the world.

  • Conceptualized and produce audiovisual content (Videos, photography, interviews, etc), to empower our media campaigns.
  • Empowered a creative communication team and together we developed strategies related to the news and services of the governmental institution. Additionally, we designed science data visualization and learning content for social media campaigns to connect people daily with our National Parks and nature.

 

San Francisco de Quito University

Quito – Ecuador (jun 2017 / jul – 2017)

  • Coordinated and managed the logistics of the audiovisual course with 15 participants in the middle of the amazon rain forest.
  • Assisted and supported Andy during the teaching period.

  • Wrote and published articles about films, theater plays, concerts, music, and new independent artists’ productions.
  • Interviewed more than 50 artists and entertainment producers to identify the sould of their new projects.
